RS Wiki Welcome to Taskman! Before you get into the tutorial, let's figure out how you wish to use the site. You can play as a Taskman or a main. The next task will tell you more about the difference. Click 'Complete task', then generate a new task.

This is a Taskman BERR

RS Wiki A Taskman must be a new/unprogressed non-GIM ironman account. A Taskman follows the rules and only progresses their account according to their task. This tutorial will cover the key things you need to know as a Taskman. You can always convert to a (Task)main, but your account cannot become a Taskman if you've played it as a main. On the next task, you will learn what a (Task)main is. click "Complete task" and generate the next task.

This is a (Task)main MGWX

RS Wiki If you do not wish to follow the rules, or if you're not a fresh ironman account, you're a (Task)main. You can use the site and follow the rules (or not) however you want. You can select types of task to roll and regenerate tasks you don't want to do - including the tutorial tasks. Click "Complete task" and generate the next task to make your decision.

Make your choice ZVB9

RS Wiki If you wish to play as a Taskman complete this task and generate a new one. You are now a Taskman. Welcome! If you wish to play as a (Task)main, go to settings (click your username) and press the big red button "Click here to become a Taskmain". You now have free reign. Welcome!

Before we enter Gielinor 9692

RS Wiki This tutorial is intended to take you through the most fundamental rules of Taskman. In the following section, you roll a task and complete an action in the game. Your next task will provide you with context for the task or rule it showcased. Once you have done everything a task asks of you, press "Complete task" and generate a new one.

Complete Tutorial Island K3WE

RS Wiki Welcome to Gielinor, adventurer! The first step on any new Runescape account is the Runescape tutorial. Simple and straightforward, complete the Tutorial Island. Once you've made it to the mainland, hit the complete task button. If you skipped the tutorial, or are passed this point, sorry but there's no going back. Complete the task anyway.

Prove yourself a pristine Taskman NKN6

RS Wiki Speak to Nastroth in Lumbridge castle courtyard and toggle the option "I want to prove I've never used an XP block/reset". Once you have toggled the option, roll your next task.

Context of "Prove yourself a pristine Taskman" 4G7Q

RS Wiki In this task, you had to travel to a new location. How you choose to do so is only limited to what you have access to in that moment. You can activate lodestones as you come upon them. Experience gain is our primary tracker of progress. Therefore, Taskmen are not allowed to disable stats or experience gain. This is established in rule §2.R4.

Find out your account's age and enter it in the D(ay)/H(our) fields NKD6

RS Wiki Hans in Lumbridge castle can tell you how old your account is. You can also find it in RuneMetrics. Our leaderboard uses your account's age to calculate your average time per task. Entering the time is optional, though.

Familiarise yourself with the site JW2B

RS Wiki Some tasks have icons; you can hover over them to learn what they are. The boxes to the right of your task, the cats and birds, rotate daily. These are relevant for passive tasks. More on that later. The top of the page has the rules, completed tasks history and leaderboard. Check them out. Once you've navigated around the site, come back by clicking on "Taskman" or "Dashboard" in the top left, and complete your task.

Cook a shrimp on a range in Lumbridge Y4N6

RS Wiki You can obtain the shrimp from fishing in east Lumbridge Swamp. Cook the Shrimp on a range in the buildings south of the castle.

Context of "Cook a shrimp on a range in Lumbridge" R9BM

RS Wiki This game has some really pointless achievements. You can tell there is an achievement because of the Runescore icon below the description. Did you notice your task completed an achievement that works towards the Beginner Lumbridge tasks? Area achievements are often completed during other tasks, and that's ok (rule 2.E3). You also had to find another range than the one in the Castle, as using that is locked behind a quest - if you check rule 2.R1, it states you have to use methods you already have access to - hence the other range.

Obtain Kayle's Chargebow EE6D

RS Wiki Kayle's Chargebow can be obtained during the "The Blood Pact" quest. Obtaining the chargebow does not finish the quest. However, if you look at rule 7, you'll see it says the following: §7 QUESTS. You can only start a quest or miniquest when it is required for your active task. While questing… Exception 1. You are allowed to finish any quest your task has forced you to start. This means that you may finish The Blood Pact quest, if you wish. You are also allowed to complete your task now, and wait for another task to force you to complete the quest. Look through the restrictions and exceptions of rule §7, too. The knowledge might come in handy.

Context of "Obtain Kayle's Chargebow" Y8KG

RS Wiki Okay. Now you have the Chargebow, great. You also have a partially completed quest, but if you look at rule 7.E1, you'll see it says "You are allowed to finish any quest your task has forced you to start." This means that you may finish The Blood Pact quest, if you wish. You can also decide to move onto the next task, and instead wait for another task to force you to complete the quest.

Register a total of 1 unique item in the Asgarnia and Misthalin section of your Slayer collection log ZD7Z

RS Wiki Click on your task's drop-down menu. The four items shown here can complete your task. It's up to you which one to go for and which combat style (you have access to) to use. The number in the parenthesis is the Slayer level required to harm the monster that drops the item. In the KC field, you can enter the # of kills it took you to obtain the unique. You can track the number of bones you get through RuneMetrics or your experience gain. Speaking of bones, you're allowed to bury them as you obtain them. You can also bank them to use at an Altar or the Ectofunctus.

Context of "Register a total of 1 unique item in the Asgarnia and Misthalin section of your Slayer collection log" 8W9W

RS Wiki Well done. You got yourself your first collection log item. On your journey you will eventually complete the Slayer collection log. Goblins and Chickens drop slayer log uniques. Therefore, you can only kill them, if your task is to obtain a unique for the "Asgarnia and Misthalin slayer collection log", OR you've obtained all of their uniques (see rule 2.E2). This time, you didn't have to level up your Slayer, but rule 9.19.1.E1 states, that you may go for any item in the dropdown, as long as you follow the rest of the rules in 9.19. This also means levelling up Slayer. The slayer rules are comprehensive, so have a look whenever you roll a slayer log task.

Complete the Stronghold of Security and the Stronghold of Safety R95M

RS Wiki What's RuneScape without a pair of Fancy boots? Head to the fourth floor of the Stronghold of Security to secure yourself some peak fashion attire. Don't forget the grab the cash from the first three levels of the Stronghold. Afterwards, there is more cash to score in the Stronghold of Safety near Edgeville. What are you waiting for? Time to make some cash.

Context of "Complete the Stronghold of Security and the Stronghold of Safety" VJ2W

RS Wiki Now you've got some fashion and cash on your hands. Feels good, doesn't it? When your active task requires GP, you are allowed to use methods that also grant experience, such as killing monsters and alching their loot. If you just want to have cash, but your task doesn't require it, you must find ways that do not award experience. For instance, as a member, you can make a decent profit buying silks in Al-Kharid and selling them to the Silk merchant in Ardougne. Later on, we will cover a better 0-exp money maker.

Harvest a row of potatoes Y83G

RS Wiki Potatoes can be planted using the Farming skill. An allotment patch is located between Taverley and Burthorpe. You can obtain the seeds from Head Farmer Jones by the Farming patch. Once you have planted the seeds, you are now time-gated, as you need to wait for IRL time to pass before you can harvest the potatoes. More on this on the next task. Select "Time-gate" in the dropdown, click Complete Task and read on!

Context of "Harvest a row of potatoes" 26GK

RS Wiki That was your first experience doing Farming in Taskman. Farming is handled differently from all other skills. You can do Farming activities whenever you wish - as long as they only give experience in Farming. As for your potatoes and "time-gating", rule §5 states that if an active task has a time-gate (real-life time must pass), you have to complete as much of the task as you can. If you still cannot proceed, you are allowed to select the time-gate unique in the dropdown and move on. You must return to and finish it as soon as possible. Let's continue on your adventure. But don't forget the potatoes!
